Bay Battles Expo ‘16: Pokken Tournament Rules/Regulations & Procedures
1. Eligibility
1.1. Anyone at the Bay Battles Expo ‘16 event at Ohlone College Newark Campus are eligible.
1.1.2. Online universities & participants are ineligible.
1.1.3. Players must be registered at Bay Battles Expo ‘16.
1.2. Players must be on site, and physically in attendance.
1.3. Players must be registered with valid names.
1.4. This tournament will have a player cap limit of 16 players to allow spacing for other on-going tournaments.

2. Tournament Format
2.1. The “Bay Battles Expo ‘16: Pokken Tournament” will compete in a single elimination bracket along with a 3rd place match.
2.1.1. Seeds will be randomly assigned.
2.2. Match Format and Game Settings
2.3.1. Server: North America
2.3.2. Mode: Versus Mode
2.3.3. Time Length: 99 seconds
2.3.4. Round Length: Best of 3
2.3.5. Match Length: Best of 1, Grand Final Best of 3
2.3.6. Modes:
2.3.6.1. If only one console available, then Local Battle.
2.3.6.2. If two or more consoles, then Online Battle against opponent’s Wii U system.
2.3.7. Handicap: No handicaps.
2.3.8. Stage: Any stage. Players must agree on a stage within 25 seconds. If not chosen then, stage is random.
2.3.9. Pokemon: Shadow Mewtwo Banned.
2.3.10. Support Pokemon: Any.
2.3.11. Support Guage Type: Any.
2.3.12. Skill Points: OFF
2.3.13. Choice of Side and Stage: See Section 4.3
2.3.14. Higher seed (Team with the lower number) is always in charge of creating the game.
2.4. Prizes - (To be Determined)

2.4.1. 1st Place - Pokémon 2 Pack Figures Squirtle & Charmander & $20 Gamestop Giftcard
2.4.2. 2nd Place - $15 Gamestop Giftcard
2.4.3. 3rd Place - $10 Gamestop Giftcard
2.4.4. Prizes may be changed at any time.
3. Schedule
3.1. The following is the schedule of events throughout the tournament.
3.2. Default Times for matches on-location and start at are To Be Determined.
3.3. Players will continue playing until the tournament has been finished, or by instruction of the tournament coordinator.

3.4. All of the default dates and times are final and will not be changed under any circumstances.
4. Game Rules
4.1 Players must be either pre-registered or registered.
4.2. Players must provide their own Wii U controllers or compatible controllers.
4.2.1. There is no modding of controllers. We will have the right to inspect these controllers if necessary.
4.2.2. If a player does not have a controller, they may use one provided by “Renegade Gaming @ Ohlone College” or another player if available. The player will be liable for any physical damages should anything occur on the given device.
4.3. There is no coaching during any tournament match.
4.4. Punctuality of Players
4.4.1. All players will be expected to be ready to join the game lobby and start play within a maximum of five (5) minutes following the start of the round. Readiness includes, but is not limited to, configuration of in-game settings, and button layout settings.
4.4.2. Matches must be played at their scheduled times. Teams may not request a reschedule at any point during this tournament.
4.4.3. Players that are not ready within five (5) minutes following the start of the round will automatically lose the match and will move to the loser’s bracket. Players that miss the loser’s bracket will be removed from the tournament.
4.5. Choice of Controller
4.5.1. Prior to the first game and match, Both players must agree which controller to play on should there only be one console available for the tournament.
4.5.2. If sides can not be determined cooperatively, then players will do rock-paper-scissors duel to settle the side.
4.5.3. Should their be more than one console at this tournament, then both players will play on the gamepad.
4.6. Game of Record
4.6.1. Game of record (“GOR”) refers to a game where players have loaded and which has progressed to a point of meaningful interaction between opposing players. Once a game has attained GOR status, the period ends in which incidental restarts may be permitted and a game will be considered as “official” from that point onward. After the establishment of GOR, game restarts will be allowed only under limited conditions (see Section 4.7) Examples of conditions which establish GOR:
When the timer has diminished by 10 secs.
When the first hit has been made by either player.
4.7. Stoppage of Play
4.7.1. Player Pause. Players may only pause a match immediately following any of the events described below.
Unintentional disconnection
Hardware or software malfunction
Player illness
4.7.2. Pause Allowance. There is no pause allowance unless stated causes from 4.7.1.
4.7.3. Resuming. Both players must agree that the pausing player has resolved their issues and the pausing player will countdown to 3 to resume the game. A tournament coordinator must be present to enforce the 3 second countdown. (Ex: “3...2….1…..Go” (Resume button is pressed on Go”.)
4.8. Player Equipment Responsibility. All players are responsible for ensuring the performance of their chosen setup, including hardware and peripherals, connection, and power. A problem with player equipment is not an acceptable reason for lateness or pausing beyond a player’s allowance, regardless of the root cause of the problem.
4.9. Restrictions on Gameplay Elements
4.9.1. Restrictions may be added at any time before or during a match if there are known bugs with any items, fighters, skins, or for any other reason as determined at the discretion of tournament officials.
5. Unfair Play & Penalties
5.1. Unfair Play. The following actions will be considered unfair play and will be subject to penalties at organizer’s discretion.
5.1.1. The use of any cheat program and/or map hack program
5.1.2. An intentional disconnection without a proper and explicitly stated reason
5.1.3. Unsportsmanlike conduct or disruptive behavior such as inappropriate and/or unprofessional actions directed towards another player or tournament official
5.1.4. The intentional use of a game bug or error to obtain an unfair advantage
5.1.5. The use of an ineligible player (e.g. "ringing")
5.1.6. Sabotage of opponent equipment.
5.1.7. Unauthorized obstructions to match scheduling (e.g. lateness)
5.1.8. Any other method that is used to alter or interrupt the match that has either been invented or will be invented, not created by developers of Pokken Tournament.
5.2. Penalties for Unfair Play. Upon discovery of any player committing any violations regarded as unfair play, the tournament director may issue any or all penalties, at his/her sole discretion.
5.2.1. Verbal Warning
5.2.2. Game Forfeiture
5.2.3. Tournament Disqualification
6. Spirit of the Rules
6.1. Finality of Decisions. All decisions regarding the interpretation of these rules, player eligibility, scheduling and staging of the tournament, and penalties for misconduct, lie solely with “Renegade Gaming @ Ohlone College” and assigned tournament officials, the decisions of which are final.
6.2. Rule Changes. These rules may be amended, modified, or supplemented in order to ensure fair play and the integrity of the competition.
6.2.1. Players will be notified immediately of these changes during the event occurs.
