QUAKE LIVE® CLAN ARENA 2V2 TOURNAMENT RULES
➤ Summary
Compliance with all tournament regulations is a mandatory condition of participation in the Quake Live® (“Quake Live”) Clan Arena 2v2 Tournament (the “Tournament”). By registering and participating in the Tournament, you agree that you have read, understand, and shall be bound by these Rules. If you have any questions regarding these Rules, please contact an on-site staff member for assistance.

1 Quake Live Clan Arena 2v2 Tournament
The Tournament will feature 2-player vs. 2-player competitions with as many as sixteen (16) teams competing in a single elimination bracket. The top-ranking team shall be awarded a prize of USD $500.00.

1.1 Contest Overview

1.2 Requirements for Entry
Registration for the Tournament is on-site only at QuakeCon 2018 to be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, Texas from August 9 – 12, 2018 (“QuakeCon 2018”). Register at our community competition area in the BYOC hall from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm CT on Thursday, August 9, 2018. All participants must have pre-purchased a BYOC badge and must show a government-issued identification to register. Only the first 16 4-person BYOC teams to register for the Tournament will participate therein.

1.3 Tournament Venue
The Tournament will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 8:00 pm CT at QuakeCon 2018.

1.4 Final Check-in & Player Meeting
All participants must check-in to the community competition area by Thursday, August 9th at 7:45 pm. CT. Following check-in, all participants will be required to attend a Player Meeting to review the tournament rules and address player questions and concerns. All players must have their computers and gaming peripherals setup in their BYOC prior to the scheduled Player Meeting.

1.5 Tournament Format
The Tournament will consist of a Single Elimination bracket with best of three maps format. Players shall play from their assigned BYOC seat.

1.6 Tournament Details
1.6.1 Map Selection
The Quake Live Clan Arena 2v2 Tournament will be Best of Three(Bo3) from a 5-map pool utilizing the Pick, Pick, Drop, Drop, Pick map selection format:
1. PICK - Team 1, winner of a coin-toss, chooses the first map to be played in the set.
2. PICK - Team 2, loser of a coin-toss, chooses the second map to be played in the set.
3. DROP - Team 1 chooses the first map to be dropped from the map pool.
4. DROP - Team 2 chooses the second map to be dropped from the map pool.
5. PICK - The remaining map will be used as a tiebreaker in the event of a tie.
Note: A map may not be picked or removed more than once per match set.

2 Tax Forms
2.1.1 US Tax Forms Required for Participation
All tournament winners must submit an appropriate tax form before prize money is awarded.

● If you are a U.S. citizen (even if you reside outside the United States) or other U.S. person (including a resident alien individual), use Form W- 9 (Rev. 12-2014), Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification, to document your status as a U.S. person.

2.1.2 Free Agents and Sponsors
All tournament participants will be recognized as free agents. Any monies or prizes won by virtue of participation in the tournament will be paid directly to the tournament participants. In the event that a participant wishes to forfeit their winnings to a sponsor, all appropriate forms and tax documents (Form W-9 for US Taxpayers, Form W-8BEN for Non-US Taxpayers (Individuals), Form W-8BEN-E for Non-US Taxpayers (Entities) must be submitted prior to participation in the tournament.

2.1.3 Tax Responsibilities
Participants are solely responsible for the filing and payment of any taxes required by any government entity on any monies or prizes won by virtue of participation in the tournament.


3 General Rules
3.1 Client Settings and Customization

3.1.1 Eligibility
All participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, must possess a valid form of identification and be a legal resident of (i) one of the 50 United States (or the District of Columbia) excluding the territories, military installations and commonwealths; (ii) Canada (iii) UK, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Russia (iv) Australia, New Zealand or (v) Argentina, Mexico, Peru. All applicable federal, national, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. Excluded from eligibility are officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives of Sponsor, each of its respective parent, affiliated or related companies, agencies, suppliers of the materials and services related to this Contest, and members of any immediate families (defined as parents, siblings, children and spouses, regardless of where they live) or households (whether or not related) of such officers, directors, employees, agents and sales representatives.
3.1.2 Name Policy
Player names, Clan names, and Clan tags must abide by all Quake Live Terms of Use. Inappropriate names must be changed before participation in the Tournament.

3.1.3 Menu and Cheating
3.1.2.1 Players must use the in-game GUI for all in game configuration settings. All options available via the in-game menus are authorized for use in tournament play.
3.1.2.2 Device drivers which permit players to see through walls or enable any form of transparency not intended by id Software, are strictly forbidden and grounds for immediate removal from the tournament.
3.1.2.3 Device drivers which alter the texture detail LOD bias to render textures in a lower resolution or quality than offered via the in-game GUI, are strictly forbidden and grounds for disqualification.
3.1.2.4 Except for control drivers and device settings, no commands are allowed outside the game or in the command line.
3.1.2.5 Except for control drivers and device settings, no alteration, deletion, or addition of files is permitted.
3.1.2.6 Any commands or combination of commands that allow seeing through walls, player warping, message spamming, auto-aim, radar, item timing, or similar action will be considered cheating and grounds for disqualification.
3.1.2.7 Questions regarding setting of variables and commands and how they relate to cheating should be brought to a tournament official before your first match.

3.2 Fair Play Rule
Deliberately losing will result in disqualification.

3.3 Technical Failures
In the event of a server crash, client crash, or other technical failure, there will be a full restart of the match, and no previous match data will be used to determine a match victor.

3.4 Personality Rights
By participating in the event, each participant grants to Bethesda Softworks LLC, a ZeniMax Media company, the right to use the participant’s name, image and/or likeness including, but not limited to, photographs, video recordings, and audio recordings for the purpose of advertising or promotional purposes, without further consent or consideration to the participant, in perpetuity.

3.5 Check-Ins

3.5.1 Tournament Check-In - All tournaments have a Final Check-in time. Failure to arrive at the tournament area prior to the final check-in time will result in a forfeiture of the participant's designated tournament slot.

3.5.2 Match Check-In - Failure to arrive at your BYOC seat at least 10 minutes prior to the start of a participant's scheduled match may result in a forfeiture of the scheduled match by the participant. This rule will be strictly enforced.

3.6 Conduct
Loud and/or abusive language, excessive swearing, and other forms of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any player may be disqualified from the Tournament for violating this rule.
