Rules
1. General Conditions

1.1 The Academy Tournament 2022 is governed by the following set of rules and regulations which apply to all participants in order to provide a fair and pleasant experience for all our players.

1.2 For violation of any of the clauses of the rules, the organizing team reserves the right to issue a warning (verbal or written), a technical defeat, or a ban (the time is set by the Referee) based on the severity of the violation.

1.3 Repeated warnings may lead to a technical defeat of the team or the ban of the team/player for a certain period of time.

1.4 Rescheduling a game is not allowed. Games are to be started no later than 15 Minutes after they are scheduled. If they have not started after that time period, the team who is at fault will automatically forfeit the series. This rule will not apply, if the match is delayed due to one of the teams still being in another series of this tournament. In this case the game will start 15 Minutes after the previous series ended.

2. Tournament Format and Tiebreakers

2.1 Participants compete in a single group stage format. Every team plays every other team once. The top two teams get into the Winners’ Bracket, the third and fourth team get into the Lower Bracket. The last team will be eliminated from the tournament.

2.2 Game Mode — 5v5 Captains Mode

2.3 Group Stage Matches are played on two maps (Best of two). The Winners’ Bracket matches are played on two or three maps (Best of three). The Lowers’ Bracket matches are played on two or three maps (Best of three). The Grand Final will be played on two or three maps (Best of three).

2.4 Tiebreakers will be played to decide the standings if necessary. Tiebreaker Matches are played on a single map (Best of 1).

3. Stand-In Rules

3.1 Stand-ins are persons used by a team as a player during a match, without being an official team member. A stand-In may not be a member of another team or have played a game for another team within the tournament.

3.2 The maximum number of stand-ins used by a team within one game is 2.

3.3 The MMR of a stand-in may not be higher than >500 MMR of the missing player. If the MMR of the stand-in is lower than the MMR of the missing player, the discrepancy does not matter. Using a smurf account to alter or hide the stand-ins true MMR will automatically lead to a forfeit of the series.

3.4 The usage of a stand-in must be communicated with the organizing team and the opponents at least four hours before the match starts. If this is not possible, the opponent may decline the usage of a stand-in, leading to a forfeit of the series.

4. Game Rules

4.1. The main communication channel for organizing matches is Kio’s Academy Discord where participants must be present during the tournament in order to assure that every participant is following the rules.

4.2 Every team can pause the game for up to 10 minutes. A team can keep the game paused for a longer period of time with the consent of the opponent. If a team exceeds a pause time of more than 15 Minutes, they may not continue to keep the game paused, even if the opponent agrees to an extension of that time. The game either gets played or the team that wants to continue pausing forfeits the game.

4.3 Before resuming, the team who paused the game must make sure the other team is ready. The game can resume as soon as the opponent announces readiness. If the opposing party doesn't confirm its readiness, then your opponent’s pause time report begins.

4.4 If a team drops out of the tournament while there are still games left to play, they automatically get placed in last place. The already played results however will count for the other teams.

5. Prohibited

5.1 Pausing the game during the draft.

5.2 Unpausing your opponent's pause during the first 10 minutes, unpausing your own pause without notifying your opponent and their approval, and not pausing the game when all the opposing team’s players have been disconnected from the game are all prohibited. If any of these actions happen, the organizing team can penalize the team in violation of the rule with a technical defeat. To file a complaint, you need to provide the organizing team with screenshots proving your opponent has violated this rule.

5.3 It is forbidden to swear, provoke, abuse and deceive participants as well as the organizing team during a tournament by any means. For such violations, the player/team may receive a warning, technical defeat or ban and lose any prizes won. To report such behaviors, you must provide screenshots.

5.4 Unsportsmanlike behavior is prohibited. Examples of such acts include but are not limited to sabotaging a match, manipulation of rules, exploitation of bugs, and verbal abuse. Punishments range from a warning to total disqualification from the tournament.

5.5 Intentional spam "gg" during the game.

5.6 Intentionally delaying the game.

5.7 The player's name (nickname) cannot include words from profanity, propaganda of racism or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality, advertising in any form, including links and names of third-party tournament platforms.

5.8 A player or team avatars cannot include violent images, pornographic material, propaganda, racism, or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality.

5.9 Tipping enemy players and using voice lines is generally allowed. If a team wants the enemy team to stop tipping their players or stop the excessive usage of voice lines, the team is instructed to stop using voice lines and tipping enemy players.

5.10 Watching the stream during the games or in between the games of a series is prohibited.

6 Appeals

6.1 All claims of violation of the rules are accepted for consideration within 30 minutes after the game. If there are no claims after the specified time, the result of the match can no longer be changed. It is highly recommended to keep screenshots of all complaints, violations, misbehaviours, and match results until the end of the tournament.

6.2 Technical defeats are issued only after a member of the organizing team approves.

6.3 All the above mentioned rules are situational and can be interpreted differently by the organizing team for each game in order to make the best decision.

6.4 Any situation not covered in the rules will be handled by the organizing team.

6.5 Any participant in a disputed or conflicting situation is responsible for the accuracy of the information submitted.

6.6 Decisions of the organizing team in any situation including those not described in these rules are final and not negotiable.

7. Miscellaneous

7.1 The tournament administration has the right to change and modify the rules at any time at its discretion.
