HCS Daytona serves as the first live event of the 2017-18 season. Originally conceived as an event with a $25,000 prize pool, 343 pulled from crowdfunded REQ pack sales to increase the prize pool to $75,000. Responding to player and fan feedback, the decision was also made to increase the spread of the prize pool so that the top 16 teams all earn money. This makes HCS Daytona the first event to pay out beyond the top 8 since UGC St. Louis 2015.
