Description
Halo World Championship 2017 is the second annual Halo World Championship event, taking place at the ESL Studios in Burbank, California from March 26 - 28, 2017. Halo 5: Guardians is played in 4v4 competition.
The event was officially announced on December 10, 2016, during the broadcast for the NA Pro League Relegation. Many differences from the previous year's event were made apparent. This time around, only twelve teams would be invited, with the Asia region no longer being included. In North America, Europe and Latin America, open LAN events would be held to determine qualifying teams, rather than a series of online competitions deciding. In Australia/New Zealand, qualification remained online. For the tournament itself, the bracket format has been changed to double-elimination. The prize pool was revealed to be $1,000,000, with potential growth from crowdfunding.
